About the rōpū

We welcome members from any of the wider Tāmaki Makaurau areas, from the North Shore, to West / East Auckland and all the way to the Waikato border. Because of our large geographical area, we are adaptable and to cater for large audiences we can adapt locations when needed. We have strong ties with Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Kotuku (in Ranui, West Auckland) and we often enjoy spending time together here in wānanga. We plan for 3 noho / wānanga (kanohi ki te kanohi) per year and enjoy different types of kaupapa that enhance our wellbeing so we can continue supporting whānau Māori we care for.  We also meet virtually as needed to address any urgent matters arising. We welcome new members and we do not charge membership fees – please contact us via email to request a membership form (we are very responsive to requests).

About the rōpū

Iwaiwa Ki Te Taranaki Taranaki rōpū of 8 are in our early stages. We consist of 3 midwives and 5 midwifery students. We have been slowly connecting and getting to know each other. Several members attended the Hui-A-Tau last year. Working around shift work, administrative work, placements and maternity leave, we endeavour to continue our gatherings through kaitahi and midwifery & tikanga related activities.

About the rōpū

Firstly, we want to acknowledge and give a big mihi to Julie Robb – O’Connell māori midwife, who bought Ngā Maia o Manawatū into the rohe.  Originally within the Dannevirke region her work laid the foundation and enabled the momentum for the establishment and work to continue through Ngā Māia O Tararua Ngā Pae Maunga since 2022.  We are based in Te Papaioea, and include the Manawatū, Horowhenua, Tararua and Rangitikei areas.

We hold monthly hui at chosen midwifery clinic rooms.  Our yearly event planner this year has included, Hāputanga wānanga, Matariki celebrations with a scenario and debrief session, Waiata practice, and hui with stakeholders within our rohe.

We have an active facebook page for our māori midwives and tauira in these regions, and regular emails are sent to keep everyone informed.

Please contact us via email.
